Pisces is a series of self-portraits shot in my bathtub in April 2018. The first two images, “Pisces 1” and “Pisces 2,” taken before the tub was filled, are my first fully nude self-portraits shot as part of Thicket of Trash, and are meant to embody the feeling of smallness and vulnerability. The rest of the collection is bolder in nature, depicting me writhing in a pool of milk or blue water, respectively, clothed in lingerie and an iridescent bolero evocative of fish scales. Pisces, coupled with Feather & Spangle before it, aims to challenge societal expectations of sexuality and the human form, specifically the notion that the naked body is inherently sexual and cannot be valuable or beautiful without this label.
